Who named the Grapefruit

I didn't even know I liked Grapefruit like that, it's like a juicy nectar of the
gods that feels like chilling in a hot tub with the jets on full blast in the
fresh Tahoe powder.

But why's it called a grape fruit? Like grapes are already a fruit?
Like aren't grapes technically grape fruit? I think a more accurate name would
be like big orange fruit? but then I guess that could get confusing bc my parents
have oranges that are bigger than grapefruits so I just dont know anymore.
Who named them anyways?

Replaced my favorite cocktail (Greyhound) and West Coast IPA’s
